How does someone non-technical start building an AI system from nothing?

The short answer You start with an empty folder and one page of plain notes. That's it — no code and no jargon, just clear instructions written in your own words.

I'm not technical. I run a manufacturing business. This wasn't my area — but when something helps the company, you put the hours in. There's plenty of guidance out there. It just takes patience.

What I actually did

I made an empty folder and wrote one page in it: who I am, how the business works, how I want things done. It got things wrong at first. Each time, I wrote down the fix as a rule. So it never makes the same mistake twice.
